“My path as a writer became much more smooth when I learned that, when things aren’t going well, to regard my struggles as curious, not tragic.”
Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love
This is great advice to adapt to your particular calling in life whatever it is. My own path as a pastor will become much more smooth when I learn that, when things aren’t going well, to regard my struggles as curious, not tragic. I spend way too much time lamenting the fact that I even have struggles, rather than regarding the inevitable struggles of life with curiosity so that I can learn from them. Accept that life on this side of Glory brings with it great struggle. Become a student of struggle – your own and especially the struggles of others – so that you can walk with empathy and compassion in the path where God has called you.
